We know that renting in regional communities like the Bellingen Shire is harder than ever before. That’s why we invited the NSW Tenants’ Union to visit our region and help us take action in the face of the local rental crisis. The Tenants’ Union team also delivered a Tenancy Law workshop to help local housing advocates and renters navigate the complex NSW Residential Tenancy Act.
We also hosted ‘Sup + Submit’, which was a submission writing workshop to support local households in developing a submission to the federal inquiry into the worsening rental crisis. Attendees shared a meal, their stories and mutual aid.
Throughout 2022-23, we have continued to try to influence change locally and across regional NSW. Whilst our role is not to advocate for any political party or individual, we are committed to improving the quality of the conversation about housing by building regional connections, providing informed submissions and engaging in community dialogue.
